“An object can only be considered good when everything is in balance: the materials, the colours, the shape … When everything is built up mathematically and well balanced, just as in life itself.”
Eclectic, a world full of wonderful extremes based on a well-thought-out structure. That is the first thing that comes to mind for the new collection of Marie Michielssen. Serax ’s resident designer likes variety, both in style and in her use of materials and colours. From papier-mâché through concrete to porcelain, cheerfully coloured or in muted natural colours, inspired by vintage architecture or by the earth in its most rudimentary form, each collection is completely different. Still, her work is not without a common thread: everything is perfectly in balance. An idea, a feeling, a story is expressed by each individual element; everything seamlessly melts together.
From side-table to stool
The new collection of side-tables by Marie Michielssen for Serax reveals an idiosyncratic, eclectic ensemble of geometrical figures, materials and colours that unmistakably bear her signature. Cylinders and cuboids that are not only beautiful but are also very handy because of their double function as both a side-table and a stool. Mix and match different tables or let a single item speak for itself; the side-tables of Marie Michielssen for Serax always ‘sit’ comfortably with you.
